Oga Peninsula

Oga peninsula is famous for Namahage.
Namahage is a demonike being who threaten children on New Year’s Eve, with exorcising evil.
It is similar to Santa Claus or Joulupukki in Finland, which appear at the winter solstice.
Kanpu-zan

In summer season, Oga peninsula shows beautiful green.
Mt. Kanpu-zan is located at the center of the peninsula, and has 360 degree view.
Nyudo-zaki

You can see wide view from cape Nyudo-zaki, too.
There are lots of restaurants, and you can enjoy fresh seafood lunch.
Mt. Ogata Fuji

At the base of the peninsula, there is the lowest mountain in Japan.
Mt. Ogata Fuji has the name after Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. Also, the pronunciation “Ogata” can mean “larger” in Japanese.
However, the actual altitude is 0m above sea level, because the surrounding area is a reclaimed land for paddy fields.
If you don’t have time to climb Mt. Fuji, you might want to do Mt. Ogata Fuji instead.
